چکیده

Three beam diagnostics developments for the current operation of the SIS18 and the high energy beam transport (HEBT) lines are described: a service program for SIS18 diagnostics, a tool for spill structure analysis and the renewed beam position monitor system in the HEBT lines. Service program for SIS18 diagnostics Since SIS operating started, a lot of measurements for beam characterisation within the synchrotron were done only by experts. With the help of a new service program called SPEKY, measurements especially in frequency domain are now prepared to be applied by the whole operator staff.. The handling of some relevant beam diagnostic devices such as phase probe or Schottky pick-up including a spectrum analyser has to be simplified for standard measurements during beam time. Every member of the operating staff has to be able for execution of the following standard measurements: determination of revolution frequency, determination of particles momentum-spread and monitoring of the bunched beam intensity. A dedicated spectrum analyser that is integrated in the operating console for accelerator control, is fed by preselected signal sources and dedicated triggers (Fig. 1). Interfacing the spectrum analyser via IEC-bus allows a slim handling that fits the needs of the measurement.

Laser Based Diagnostics for Measuring H Beam Parameters

In recent years, a number of laser based H beam diagnostics systems have been developed in the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). This talk reviews three types of laser based diagnostics at SNS: the laser wire profile monitors at superconducting linac (SCL), the laser transverse emittance scanner at high energy beam transport (HEBT), and the laser bunch shape monitor at medium energy beam transpo...

Using Local Bumps for correcting the SIS18 Closed Orbit

In the framework of the SIS18 upgrade several measurement campaigns on the closed orbit (CO) and its correction were carried out in February-May 2006. The CO correction is important for machine operation: the better the CO is corrected, the fewer beam loss occurs during operation due to increase of the machine’s acceptance. CO errors are also relevant for feed down effects of multipoles, which ...

Low Energy Demonstration Accelerator (leda) Beam Instrumentation: Rfq-accelerated Beam Results

Beam diagnostic instrumentation is being developed for the LEDA, a 6.7-MeV, 100-mA-cw proton accelerator, presently being commissioned at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This instrumentation will be the basis for much of the Accelerator Production of Tritium and the Spallation Neutron Source linac. Located in the LEDA injector and the high energy beam transport (HEBT) this initial in...

High Intensity Uranium Operation in Sis18

In order to follow the requirements of the ongoing experimental program at GSI and later on of the planned operation as a booster for the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research FAIR, the intensity of uranium beams in SIS18 must be enhanced significantly. The goals are to increase the number of particles per cycle up to the space charge limit and to enhance the average intensity by an increase...

First FESA Implementations for Beam Diagnostics at GSI

For the FAIR control system a new data acquisition concept is required to meet the demands of sophisticated beam diagnostics, real time performance and high level of standardization. For that purpose the Front End Software Architecture (FESA) developed at CERN was chosen [1,2]. FESA provides the tools to design and operate DAQ systems (FESA classes) based on common platforms such as PCI, cPCI a...
